The pictures show a fierce Cumberbatch as he becomes the Dragon Smaug for the much anticipated next installment of Peter Jackson’s Hobbit trilogy. I didn’t think it was possible for Cumberbatch to look more scary and intimidating.

The Hobbit: The Desolation of Smaug hits theaters on December 13th.
