Cowboy Bebop Hits Netflix November 19

Anime fans, it’s time to get excited! The legendary fan fave, Cowboy Bebop, hits Netflix November 19 as a live-action series. And from the looks of the trailer, it’s going to be epic.

For those who might not know (yet), Cowboy Bebop is an action-packed space Western about three bounty hunters, aka “cowboys,” all trying to outrun the past. As different as they are deadly, Spike Spiegel (John Cho), Jet Black (Mustafa Shakir), and Faye Valentine (Daniella Pineda) form a scrappy, snarky crew ready to hunt down the solar system’s most dangerous criminals — for the right price. But they can only kick and quip their way out of so many scuffles before their pasts finally catch up with them.

The original anime series was both highly popular and controversial, featuring nuanced characters navigating a world that is both beautiful and bleak. Edgy, adult themes and genre-bending mashups (before it was totally cool) made the series uniquely artistic, appealing, and at times, a bit uncomfortable to watch—in the best way, of course.

The Netflix version features a lot of great names, but fans of the anime series will be happy to know its director, Shinichirō Watanabe, is a consultant for the Netflix version, and original composer Yoko Kanno will be providing music for the live-action adaptation.
