Today Lucasfilm and Disney offered a glimpse of their latest project when they announced their new animated movie, Strange Magic. The movie is written and produced by George Lucas and is an animated film inspired by Shakespeare’s A Midsummer’s Night’s Dream. While, like many Disney animated films, Strange Magic is a musical, it looks like we won’t be seeing any original songs here. Instead, “popular songs from the past six decades help tell the tale of a colorful cast of goblins, elves, fairies and imps, and their hilarious misadventures sparked by the battle over a powerful potion” (source).
Strange Magic has a (surprisingly soon) release date of January 23, 2015 and will include the voice talents of Alan Cumming, Evan Rachel Wood, Kristin Chenoweth, Maya Rudolph, Sam Palladio, Meredeth Anne Bull, Alfred Molina, Elijah Kelley, Bob Einstein, and Peter Stormare.
