Say what you will about DC, but anything that Bruce Timm is connected to is definitely worth a look. Reports are coming in that Timm is set to executive produce a new Justice League animated miniseries to premiere online next spring. The three-part cartoon, entitled Chronicles, will tie in to another animated project called Justice League: Gods and Monsters.
“Chronicles” is said to revolve around a newly conceived reality in the DC universe where Justice League members Superman, Batman and Wonder Woman are much darker versions of the superheroes that people know.
DC seems to be quite hung up on making their properties darker and grittier (the Nolanverse Batman, Man of Steel, Arrow, etc), and while this move has been irritating many fans since the start of the New 52 back in 2011, this is Bruce Timm. The man seems nearly incapable of doing something wrong with the DCAU.
Will you be giving Chronicles a looksie when it debuts on Machinima next year? What do you think about making Bats, Supes, and Diana even darker than they already are?
