The actor’s reps have refused to comment (with Momoa himself dodging the question at conventions), but rumor is that Momoa will step into the role of Aquaman for the upcoming Batman v. Superman: Dawn of Justice.
“I think it would be really, really fun to play a superhero. You know? I’ve always talked about, like, what’s your favorite. I mean I love Lobo so…You know. It would be awesome…I just don’t really see myself as a superhero…they’re kind of written a little different. I don’t know…I don’t see myself in tights a lot….I’m more of a, I don’t know, an anti-hero if you will. In life. So, not the smiling, parading to saving the world kind of guy.” Points of Geek
Given Aquaman’s personality in the New 52 comics (and talk about how he’s not too happy with the rampant destruction shown in Man of Steel that massively affected the Indian Ocean) versus his previous “wussy” one in the old Superfriends series, the Game of Thrones and Red Road star could bring that to life in a very big, instantly-gripping way.
Batman v. Superman is set for release on May 6, 2016.
