Gravity: Soundtrack Preview

Water Tower Music music released a nearly 25- minute preview of the soundtrack for the titular film. If you haven’t heard it yet, you should. It’s good. Very intriguing. Composed by Steven Price, it is very atmospheric and Price makes great use of the electronic sound to create a the feeling of wide open space and the wonders of the void of space and at the same time the feeling of claustrophobia and fear. There are also tracks that are more dramatic and emotional. At times ambient, soothing and other times discordant,  there is a certain theme you hear several times in the preview that you come to recognize throughout the score. It reminds me of Cliff Martinez’s  beautiful, quiet ambient score for Soderbergh’s Solaris. Listen to the preview in the video below.
