As reported on Legendarium, Sir Ian McKellen had announced on the Jonathan Ross Show that he would be officiating the wedding of his friend Patrick Stewart to singer-songwriter, Sunny Ozell.
“I’m going to marry Patrick,” he said. “I am going to officiate at his wedding.”
But what qualifications does the star of The Hobbit and X-Men franchises have to undertake such a task?
“In Massachusetts—we’re in the middle of America somewhere—you get anybody along, a friend, and I read out the words, and Sunny and Patrick will then be married. I declare you man and wife.”, said McKellen going on to say, “done it once before with two guys having a civil partnership…cried my eyes out!”
After courting for 5 years, Stewart “made it so”! With a fun Tweet from the newlyweds, came the announcement;
Not to be outdone on social media, Sir Ian was quick to point out his role in the nuptials of his X-Men co-star. Showing off his “Doctor of Divinity” certificate and “Ministerial” attire he added to the post with, “I did my part.”
Stewart had been in the news recently with a YouTube post with his then fiance, where he gives a fun lesson in acting. With this recent video and Tweet, Patrick Stewart seems to be “beaming” with joy, and therefore a toast…
“We never live so intensely as when we love strongly. We never realize ourselves so vividly as when we are in full glow of love for others.” – Walter Rauschenbusch
Congratulations to the the happy couple, Sir Patrick Stewart and Sunny Ozell!
You can see McKellen and Stewart together in their upcoming projects which includes the Cort Theatre-NYC productions of “No Man’s Land” and “Waiting for Godot”, and X-Men: Days of Future Past, which hits theaters May 23, 2014.(my birthday)
