Mattel Launches New Fairy Tale Doll Line by Michelle Lawhorn

Mattel has just launched a new venture that’s sure to be just as sweet and adorable as ever! A spin-off of Mattel’s wildly successful Monster High toy line and webseries, Ever After High follows the same basic formula as its predecessor (teen children of famous fictional creations attending high school and looking fabulous 24/7), only this time we follow the adventures of the children of famous fairy tale characters.

Apple White, daughter of Snow White, is determined to follow in her mother’s footsteps no matter what! But Raven Queen, the daughter of the Evil Queen from Snow White’s tale, wants to write her own story. They’re joined along the way by Briar Beauty (Sleeping Beauty’s daughter), Madeline Hatter (daughter of the Mad Hatter from Alice in Wonderland), and a slew of other yet-to-be-famous children (notably Prince Charming’s narcissistic son, Goldilocks’s equally flaxen-haired daughter, and Cinderella’s shoe-obsessed daughter). Rumor has it that the dolls themselves will make their debut at San Diego Comic-Con this July (especially since the official website says “enrollment starts this July”), but nothing official has been announced yet.

In the meantime, check out Ever After High’s official Facebook and YouTube channel for the first two episodes and an introduction to the cast!

  1. So is anyone else completely creeped out by the current trend in dolls with the gigantic heads and the huge soulless eyes?

I love this concept, though. Its fun and I feel like its a good gateway drug into the world of lore and stuff we’d consider good lit. And I adore the Monster High toys I’ve seen at Toys R Us. I couldn’t resist the Monster High knee socks with the skulls with the pink bows (how deeply embarrassing should that be?)

I dunno, I kind of see it as Hammerfilms until the Millenials’ kids are old enough for the actual Hammerfilms.

  2. My kids love the Monster High Dolls!
